Gratitude Pumpkin

Let’s face it 2020 has been a rough year for just about everyone!  And here we were in October heading towards 2021 and quarantined…when was COVID going to end?!?

That’s when we decided to do a Gratitude Pumpkin!  Some times during all the stress, unfortunate events, and the felling we just can’t seem to “get ahead” we just needed a reminder of all things we have to be grateful for.

Yes our house may not be what we want, it was a down grade from our previous home and we have a ways to go before we can build our house but it is a roof over our heads.  Some people would love to have our house with running water and heat!  I remind myself of the 5 days we didn’t have water when I was pregnant with our daughter and how it was very rough….but at least we had a place to go shower. At least we didn’t have kids to deal with otherwise I would have moved in with my parents until the water was back!

Lucky us we had a couple of pumpkins already but if you don’t just jot down your items on a paper until you get a pumpkin😊

There are many ways to do a Gratitude Pumpkin:

  • Each member of the family gets their own pumpkin to write an item to be thankful for each day
  • One shared pumpkin with a item from each family member for the day
  • One shared pumpkin with a joint item from the family
  • One shared pumpkin with a rotation of each member of the family taking a turn

If you’re doing a shared pumpkin you could have each person have a different color.  Just be careful as some colors like red won’t stand out too much on your orange pumpkin…but maybe you get one of those white pumpkins!

We did one shared pumpkin that we decided on the grateful item each day…granted our daughter is only one so it really is just me and Chuck deciding on an item.  We both said Family for our first item and on day 5 we both thought of Heat, kind of funny…great minds think a like lol.

We will update our photos once the month is over and we have a FULL pumpkin with items we are thankful for.  Thinking this just may be our new family tradition!
